Mission:
Water Street Studios in Batavia is a nonprofit 501(c) 3, committed to making the creative arts accessible to the Fox Valley community. Our mission is to be a vibrant organization dedicated to the creation and appreciation of the arts, and supporting our core community of Water Street Studio artists, patrons and students.
History:
The vision was to have a central location for artists to rent affordable space and develop their craft in a supportive and collaborative environment. The scope then grew to include gallery spaces and classrooms. This dream was shared by the artists of the Fox Valley, Batavia Enterprises, Inc., the City of Batavia and the community.
Within one year, this dream became reality in Water Street Studios. A 16,000 square-foot historic limestone building in downtown Batavia was renovated to create 26 artist studios, two classrooms, a print lab, and two premier galleries for showcasing fine art. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, Water Street Studios now helps artists develop their work and share their passion with the wider arts community in the Fox Valley and beyond.
