Welcome spring during a performance by singer and trumpeter Edy Brisseaux, who will also sell and sign his book, Ti Edy au Pays des Rythmes: What is Konpa?

Snacks will be served.

Edy Brisseaux, known as the "King of Raklasikobop," the avant-garde method of mixing classical music with Haitian roots music and Bebop, is a composer, author, educator and producer with more than 40 years of experience.

Brisseaux started his music career at the age 7. He studied at the Lycee Petion in Port-au-Prince and with Michel Desgrottes and Berry Harris, who played with John Coltrane. He has traveled around the world with bands like Les Freres Dejean, Dixie Band, Les Superstars, Caribbean Sextet and Zekle. He has collaborated with Wyclef Jean, Alan Cave and many others. He has produced six albums and is about to release seven new ones.

Brisseaux is the leader of Bazilik, a versatile band that focuses on introducing audiences to the diversity of different musical genres. He believes that music unites, heals and is a way of connecting to the divine.
