Award-winning jazz pianist Rick Roe presents a live trio performance of a recent recording project with bassist Robert Hurst and drummer Nate Winn featuring Roe’s arrangements and interpretations of the music of Michigan composer Gregg Hill. Gregg Hill’s music is surprising and different in ways that Rick and many fine musicians who have been recording his music find refreshing (musicians including Randy Napoleon, Michael Dease, Xavier Davis, Rodney Whitaker, and many more). Ranging from simple to complex ideas in melody, harmony, and form, Hill’s music has blues, swing, modern harmony, memorable melodies and rhythms that give musicians great and interesting material with which to improvise. Don’t miss this special opportunity to hear Gregg Hill’s “great material” delivered by a truly great trio of jazz masters!
