Performance - Not From Here with Eunji Kim

Thursday, Apr 18, 2024 from 8:00pm to 9:30pm
The Lincoln Lodge
2040 N Milwaukee Avenue

Not From Here is a variety show from WBEZ Chicago featuring conversation, storytelling, and interactive segments with immigrants or children/grandchildren of immigrants about their relationship with America, the process of assimilating (or not assimilating) and the humiliation of both.

It's not easy being the kid with "stinky" packed lunches or parents who wear jeans to exercise. When you're an immigrant kid, life can feel like a bizarre balancing act between two or more totally different cultures. Not From Here with Eunji Kim celebrates the joys, pains and idiosyncrasies of immigrant families as they move through life in the U.S. together. Guest storytellers will unpack their funniest memories of culture shock, reflecting on their families' perseverance and revealing the beauty in growing up differently.
