'Nutahshay8ok P8top: My Family Whale' Talk with Brad Lopes

As he explains this relationship with our more-than-human relatives, Brad will share glimpses into their role in Wampanoag storytelling and worldview, the impacts of industrial whaling on our relatives, and the threats they face today. Guests can also visit the Mashpee Wampanoag Whaling Panels Traveling Exhibit that will be on display at Highfield. This exhibit explores the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s long history and involvement in the whaling industry. The exhibit highlights the personal stories and experiences of Mashpee whalers during the 19th century, a time when nearly half of the adult male tribal members were involved in whaling.
