Visit the Yadkin Valley Heritage and Trails Center to find out more about the Yadkin Valley, Elkin, our Trails and local businesses. You can also purchase NC Trails Days merch all weekend long! Locker, Showers, Bathroom, and Parking all available on site at this location. The Heritage Center will be open throughout the weekend at varying times.

7:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Pancake Breakfast Sponsored by Yadkin Valley Rotary

The Yadkin Valley Rotary Club is hosting a pancake breakfast during NC Trail days to benefit the Children's Center of NW North Carolina. Save time at the event as previous years

8:00 AM: NC Mountains-to-Sea Trail Segment 6 Thru-Hike: Day 3

Crater Park festival camping area: 310 Standard St., Elkin

Hike the MST OR Paddle the Yadkin from Elkin to Burch Station (7 miles). Note there is some 'road walking' if hiking. If you are interested in all or part of the hike/paddle, please fill out the form after clicking 'Register'. Email questions to infoatelkinvalleytrails.org. YOU ONLY NEED TO FILL THE FORM OUT ONCE

8:00 AM: Dog Walkin' Hike

Elkin and Alleghany Rail Trailhead; parking lot beside Elkin Rec Center: 399 NC-268 W, Elkin

This one is for the dogs and their humans who love to hit the trails together! All well-mannered attendees and their dogs are welcome to join an easy hike around 2 miles out-and-back on the scenic and historic Elkin and Alleghany Rail Trail.

9:00 AM: Downtown Elkin Historic Hike

Tree Sign Main Street: 204 E. Market St, Elkin. Across from Angry Troll's parking lot.

Walk with Elkin's Main Street Manager, Laura Gaylord, and learn some fun facts, hidden gems, and eclectic history of Elkin, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Plan approximately 2 hours, wear comfortable clothes for this easy hike around 2 miles. Offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday

10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Gem Mining, Scavenger Hunts and Rock Painting at Byrd's Branch

Byrd's Branch 225 Martin Byrd Rd., Elkin

10:00 AM: Naturalist Hike: Yadkin River-Bonanza Trail

Yadkin River State Trail access at Chatham Park: 599 E. Main St., Elkin

Join local naturalist and poet, Dr. Bill Griffin, for a native plant and bird ID hike along the Yadkin Riverside on one of the area's newest trails. Approximately 3 miles of easy, but very rustic, woodland terrain on a flat loop trail. All experience levels welcome and binoculars, field guides, and cameras are encouraged! Excellent opportunity for spotting a variety of song and water birds.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Overmountain Victory Trail Experience

Yadkin Valley Heritage and Trails Center; 257 Standard St., Elkin

Get an engaging interpretation of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail from the National Park Service, then go on a trek down Elkin's unique segment of this revolutionary corridor, hearing from the Overmountain Victory Trail Association along with the individuals who have lead efforts to preserve this trail and Elkin's trails at large.

10:00AM - 11:00 AM: Yoga for Hikers

10:00 AM: Yadkin River Paddle with Carolina Heritage Vineyard and Winery

Carolina Heritage Vineyards; 170 Heritage Vines Way, Elkin 28621

Paddle the Yadkin River from Crater Park (Elkin) put-in to Burch Station (6 miles). This is a great way to log MST miles as an alternative to hiking! Those participating in the MST thru-hike can email infoatelkinvalleytrails.org for more info. 1:00PM - 6:00PM: NCTD Speaker Series

Yadkin Valley Heritage and Trails Center; 257 Standard St., Elkin

Topics include 'Agritourism', 'Local River Advocacy', 'Recreation Economy' and 'What's next for the Great Trails State?' Together, these 1 hour sessions spotlight key facets to the outdoor character of our communities in the Yadkin Valley. Come for one or stay for all. Each session will have a 10-15 minute QandA

1:00PM - 6:00PM: Vendor Village

Yadkin Valley Heritage and Trails Center; 257 Standard St., Elkin

Visit the vendor hub at it's new home around the Heritage and Trails Center. Non-profits and businesses from across the state will be represented as well as live music on the big stages throughout.

4:00PM - 6:00PM: Overmountain Victory Trail Association Encampment + MST Homecoming March

Overmountain Victory Trail between Galloway Memorial Episcopal Church and Elkin Public Library (beside Big Elkin Creek Dam)

Flashback to the Revolution with the encampment of the Overmountain Victory Trail. Starting at 5:30, a march will begin crossing the bridge on W. Main St. before turning south on N. Front St. and ending at the Heritage and Trails Center. The march will feature a fife and drum corps of the OVTA. Following the march will be a 'flotilla' of completers of the NC Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

6:00PM - 11:00PM: Downtown Elkin Music Trail

Various bands and artists at different pubs/restaurants along Main Street, Elkin
