Robert La Rue is cellist of the Sullivan String Quartet, and a member of the cello trio VC3. He has been a guest performer with the New Asia Chamber Music Society, the Locrian Chamber Players and the Alaria Ensemble, and has appeared as soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, the Banff Festival Orchestra, and numerous others. A long-time member of the New York City Opera orchestra, he has also performed in the orchestras of the Mostly Mozart Festival and the New York City Ballet. A First Prize Winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters Cello Competition (selected by a jury whose chairman was Mstislav Rostropovich), he is a graduate of the Curtis Institute, New England Conservatory, and the Juilliard School. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
The New Year’s Eve Cello Concerts are presented by the McCullough Library, The Left Bank, and Blue Rider Events. The cello concert for 2024 is underwritten by the Cane-Nowak Music Fund.
