Lexington, MA – MetWinds launches its 55th season with a concert on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum, 33 Marrett Road, Lexington, MA. A free pre-concert lecture will be held at 2:30 PM inside the concert hall.
Audiences will enjoy a musical journey “Around the world with the letter G.” The program begins in Australia with Percy Grainger’s lively Children’s March (Over the Hills and Far Away) and continues with his beloved Lincolnshire Posy, inspired by folksongs he collected in early 20th-century England. After intermission, Morton Gould evokes the spirit of homecoming in American Salute, a brilliant reimagining of the Civil War song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”, and captures the drama of Jericho as the city walls “come tumblin’ down.” Julie Giroux transports listeners into the fantasy world of “Skyrim” with her cinematic tribute to the video game’s city of Riften. The program closes in Belgrade with Ante Grgin’s Concertino for Clarinet, performed by the phenomenal U.S. Coast Guard Band clarinetist Charlie Suriyakham.
Philip Sanborn, Guest Conductor is in his nineteenth season as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Tri-County Symphonic Band. A versatile trombonist and euphonium player, Mr. Sanborn has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles across New England and internationally, including appearances at the Montreux (Switzerland) Jazz Festival. He was recently appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Bay Colony Brass, based in Newton, MA.
