In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.  They left the house at half past nine…the smallest one was Madeline. The famous Madeline adventures by Ludwig Bemelmans are brought to life by the Carnegie Performing Arts Center in a charming ballet that outlines Madeline’s adventures in Paris.  Always testing Miss Clavel’s patience, the Parisian schoolgirl Madeline has daring adventures with Pepito, the Spanish Ambassador’s son. They misbehave in old fashioned Paris and run into circus performers in the Cirque L’Hiver, the famous Parisian winter circus. Backstage, at the famous Paris Opera, Madeline has to save the day and take over as Prima Ballerina.

Dancing the role of Madeline is Ellie Cozza of Carnegie.  Ellie is a student at Chartiers High School and is in the 9th grade.  Previously, she has been seen as Clara in the Carnegie Performing Arts presentation of the "Nutcracker."  Callie Sauers  plays the character of Pepito, the “Bad Hat” who is also a resident of Carnegie and attends Carlynton as a 7th grader. Kaylee Bell, who attends Chartiers High School, is in the 9th grade and dances the ballerina part of the Hummingbird. The timeless adventures of Madeline in Paris are brought to life in ballet form on Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m. All performances will be in the North Hills Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Hall, 3579 Masonic Way in Pittsburgh. Tickets are $18- $24 and are available by going to www.carnegieperformingartscenter.com and clicking on the ticket link. Email info@carnegieperformingartscenter.com for more information.
