Written and directed by Lauren Tait, LOVEBUG returns for a second year with an expanded cast of professional dancers, updated choreography, and 10 bugs, including two new additions! Come along as this talented cast of performers creeps, crawls, weaves, flies, spins, stings, and hatches a captivating cast of creatures to life. With the use of original poetry, the show's nature guide and narrator will lead the way through the hungry bullfrog's fly-filled bog, a bustling beehive, the chrysalis of the contemplative caterpillar, the web of Bella Tarantella, venture into the dark scittering shadows of a cockroach intrusion, and much more, all brought to life through intricate modern dance and elaborate costumes and props -from a life-sized suspended cocoon, to angular, human-sized grasshopper legs, enormous illuminated butterfly wings and a giant spiderweb. LOVEBUG delivers an evocative and compelling multi-sensory experience certain to spark wonder and discovery in audiences young and old. The show's run time is about 60 minutes.
LOVEBUG opens on Thursday evening, April 25th at 7pm at Mickey's Black Box in Lititz, followed by an opening night reception to be held in the lobby. Audiences are invited grab a drink or a snack and mingle with cast and crew to celebrate the show's kick off. Food and drink will be available for purchase, including bug-themed specialty cocktails at the bar. While the performance is family-friendly; the Thursday post-show reception is geared towards adults. The Lancaster Conservancy will be onsite for an hour before the show with its live insect samples and bug exploration station.
A young audiences matinee performance will take place on Saturday, April 27th at 11am. In conjunction with the show, the Lancaster Conservancy will be on site with their live insect samples, AKA Bug Ambassadors, before and after the show. Audiences are invited to come early or stay late to visit their bug exploration station in the lobby beginning at 10am and for 30 minutes following the show.
