Johnston County Memorial Day Ceremony

Smithfield, NC – The Johnston County Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, 2024 in the Superior Courtroom at the Johnston County Courthouse in Smithfield at 11:00 a.m. The event will feature speakers representing all 15 veteran organizations in Johnston County. This historical presentation will include summaries of prominent men and women who lived in Johnston County and died during wars in defense of freedom.

"We all owe an unwavering debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who have, are, and will keep us free. I encourage everyone to take the time to remember the sacrifices these men and women have made on our behalf," said Director of Veterans Services Robert Boyette.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony and the event will also be livestreamed on the County's YouTube channel. All veterans are encouraged to take part in the Memorial Day Ceremony or join us virtually as we pause to remember those who have died while serving in our nation's military.
