Curated by Bradford J. Salamon
What if a celebrated artist was given free rein to curate an exhibition from The Hilbert Collection’s remarkable array of portrait paintings, drawings, and prints? That’s exactly what we did with acclaimed Southern California artist Bradford J. Salamon, renowned for his own portraits of artists and notable figures in the art world.
Salamon has handpicked works by Richard Diebenkorn, Don Bachardy, Sharon Alicotti, Frank Gutierrez, Geza Kende, and others. From iconic celebrities—such as Emil Kosa Jr.’s masterful portrait of Hollywood costume designer Edith Head and Richard Duardo’s compelling study of Andy Warhol—to insightful portrayals of everyday individuals, this exhibition offers more than one portrait to fall in love with.
