Christine Mirabal is an emerging Latina artist who has been painting with acrylics for over two years. In this exhibit, she explores the theme of Other Worlds through landscapes, dreamscapes, and beyond. She enjoys the process of discovery and stepping into the Unfamiliar. As a child, she loved to read fantasies and lose herself in strange places. In these paintings, she creates worlds that are sometimes recognizable and at other times unusual. They may have one or two figures or they may be devoid of people altogether. They invite the viewer to investigate these places and create stories. Christine performs improv at Happier Valley Comedy in Hadley and writes poetry in her spare time. She learned painting techniques mainly by watching online video tutorials and experimenting. She continues to educate herself and explore the world around her.
