The Art League of Long Island is proud to announce the upcoming juried exhibition “Figuratively Speaking”, showcasing a wide range of artistic interpretations of the figure. From October 26 through November 27, 2024, the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery will feature both two- and three-dimensional works that explore the human or otherwise figurative form. This exhibition invites the viewer to engage with the figure in its various manifestations—whether realistic or abstract, human or non-human, through a diverse array of mediums.
The exhibition promises to be a display of creativity, where artists explore the depths of the figure across multiple mediums, challenging perceptions and inviting conversation.
The exhibition’s juror, Seung Lee, is an internationally acclaimed Korean American contemporary artist and Professor of Art at Long Island University Post. Known for his paintings, drawings, and large-scale installations, Seung Lee brings his global perspective and esteemed expertise to the selection process for “Figuratively Speaking”. His work has been exhibited across the United States and in Italy, France, Germany, Japan, China, and Korea.
