Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue their Sunday Live at the Library concerts with Mentor-based musician Erin Nicole Neal. Music during the Vietnam War was the sound of social unrest, of asking questions and demanding answers. The music reflected the thoughts, concerns, emotions and outrage of a generation who felt their civil liberties and rights were ignored. Protest songs depicted real events of murder, injustice, social class inequities, political frustration, racism as well as hope for a better life.

During this presentation, Erin will take the audience back to the turbulence of the 1960s and early 1970s as the war ramped up, immersing Americans through the mayhem that led to outrage, frustration, shock, distrust and grief. Erin will discuss and perform numerous Vietnam War protest songs as well as discuss influential singer-songwriters and what inspired them to write these songs.
