Echoes of Hope is more than a concert—it’s a call to compassion. Through the universal language of music, this benefit concert raises critical support for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), whose lifesaving work brings shelter, education, and dignity to people uprooted by war, disaster, and persecution.
This program gathers musical voices from across the globe—celebrating the richness of diverse cultures, the resilience of those who carry them, the unity found in shared experience, and the beauty that emerges when old traditions meet new beginnings.
Featured Artists
At the heart of the program are the Emerald City Chamber Players, bringing artistic depth through music that bridges cultures and honors human resilience. Many of its musicians also perform with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Seattle Opera, and North Corner Chamber Orchestra (NOCCO), known for its virtuosity, vitality, and deep connection with audiences.
Valentyn Lysenko, a Ukrainian bandura virtuoso, brings music that is both haunting and hopeful—his instrument resonating with the pain of war and the fierce endurance of his people.
Darin Chhing, a Cambodian-American composer, contributes works rooted in family memory and survival, echoing his parents’ journey through the Khmer Rouge. His compositions transform pain into hope, urging listeners to connect with refugee struggles and culminating in a call for unity.
The Roosevelt High School Orchestra, led by Christine Gero, adds youthful energy to the program. Their recent performances at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and World One Center in NYC showcase their artistry at a national level, marking them as one of the country’s premier high school ensembles.
The Program
This powerful and immersive repertoire invites listeners on a journey through soundscapes shaped by migration and memory. Expect stirring works by Valentyn Lysenko, Florence Price, William Grant Still, Mohammed Fairouz, Nubia Jamie Donjuan, Antonin Dvořák, Darin Chhing, and John Williams, interwoven with Ukrainian folk melodies, Arabic and Latin themes, and African-inspired violin and piano music.
Every note is a gesture of solidarity. Every ticket helps the IRC offer new beginnings to those who have lost so much. Come. Listen. Give. Hope.
