Within this dynamic show, Anna Carll examines and cross pollinates all the facets of the Urban Series. Many pieces explore urban grids seen from a bird-eye-view, as well as, nature existing side-by-side with the expansion of urban life. From Urban Botanical’s on panel to the study of paper weavings, this show combines all of Carl's techniques that she has been refining for the past 25 years—intersections of all forms of creative media.
Artist Statement:
“I’ve been quietly observing the push/pull of constant urban erosion in a battle with nature, and all the levels of reconstruction that occurs from extreme weather events within that cycle. Through this lens, I construct fractured imagery where I repurpose a lot of materials from packaging and junk mail along with print cast-offs from my book arts practice into the collage work that I’ve been focusing on these last five years. I also use infrastructure images—utility wires or metal bridge canopies as a means to build patterns within my photoshop designs that are then collaged into my pieces. All of these ideas intersect with each other in a unique approach to collage, paintings, sculpture and weavings.”
INTERSECTIONS will be on view at Hagan Fine Art through the month of December, 2024. Don’t miss this exciting show by a very unique voice in fine art!
