The acclaimed Charleston Gospel Choir is pleased to present Gospel Christmas at 7 p.m. at Ashley River Baptist Church, Charleston.
A lowcountry household name, the Charleston Gospel Choir will perform a rousing celebration of gospel favorites, moving spirituals, and festive holiday arrangements including Spiritual favorites Behold the Star, Nowhere to Lay His Head, Listen to the Lambs, Unspeakable Gift featuring guest soprano soloist, Ayanna Freelon-Coleman, and toe-tapping gospel renditions including a soulful arrangement of 12 Days of Christmas, Give God the Glory, and My Help (Cometh from the Lord).
The performance will honor long-time arts patron Wally Seinsheimer, Sr., Charleston businessperson and retired CEO of Dolphin Architects who brought the visionary idea of Gospel Christmas to Charleston in 1998.
Guest conductor Ramón Bryant Braxton will lead the Choir along with the Gospel Christmas Orchestra featuring regional musicians. “The Charleston Gospel Choir has a long history of ushering in the holiday season, so I am honored to be invited and share in this tradition,” said Ramón Bryant Braxton.
