During the 1970s, a father and daughter share a passion for cinema. The father is Luigi Comencini, the famous film and television director, who is on the set of his film Pinocchio; the daughter is his third child, Francesca.
During her teens, she becomes addicted to drugs, and her father feels he must give "the time it takes" to help her overcome her addiction. Later, Francesca begins to work with her father. Determined to become a director herself, she tells him about her first feature film project. He doesn't agree with her choice and tells her that he's not interested in seeing it. Will he take pride in her success.
