The Lowell Art Association, Inc. (LAA) is the oldest incorporated art association in the country. In this year’s Annual Juried Members Exhibition, explore works of art from the artist members of the LAA in a wide range of subjects, styles, and mediums. Through paintings, drawings, sculpture, fiber art, printmaking, and photography, experience the world through varying perspectives in this exciting new show.

The juror is Stephen Mishol, Chair for the Department of Art & Design at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Mishol holds a BFA and MFA in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art.

He is a recipient of a Fulbright Research Grant, Artist Resource Trust Grant, and two Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowships. His work is included in the permanent collections of the DeCordova Museum, Boston Public Library, Fidelity Investments of Boston, and many private collections. Mishol is also a co-founder of the Arts Research Collaborative in Lowell, MA.

"It was my pleasure to work with the Whistler House Museum of Art on the Annual Juried Members Exhibition 2024," says Stephen Mishol. "From the observed to the invented, the works juried reflect a wide range of interests and approaches, collectively embracing visual language’s continuing relevance as a means for expression. I hope that visitors will share in the same deep appreciation of the diversity that is the Lowell arts community."

Mishol juried over 130 submissions from artist members of the Lowell Art Association, Inc., judging entries on such criteria as technique, composition, perspective, color, and originality.

"Each year the Lowell Art Association Inc.'s membership grows and the body of work becomes more and more impressive," says President and Executive Director Sara Bogosian. "This is a truly remarkable and diverse exhibition, and everyone should come to experience the works of art by all our talented artists."
