The 48 Hour Film Festival is a competition for local filmmakers to produce a short film in only a weekend. This is a competition for all levels, from beginner to pro. We want to see what you create!
The festival begins with the Friday night Kickoff Event on January 10 when teams draw genres out of a hat and receive the required elements for their film. Then it is off to the races—writing, shooting, and editing—doing whatever it takes to submit a short film by 5:00 PM Sunday, January 12.
How to participate:
1. Put your team together--friends, fellow filmmakers, like-minded creatives.
2. Show up at the Old Theater on January 10 for the Kickoff.
3. Receive your genre, character, prop and line at the Kickoff event.
4. Make a movie! You have 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film.
5. Upload your film by the deadline and make plans to attend the screening and awards.
The big payoff for filmmakers is seeing your masterpiece on the big screen at The Old Theater the following weekend, January 17 and 18. There is nothing better than seeing your film with an audience and seeing firsthand how they react to your movie. Local judges will select the best films. At the awards event on Sunday, January 19, the winning films will be announced and trophies given from Best Film to Best Story Line and many more.
Can you meet the challenge? For more information contact TerryLynn at terrylynnmelody@gmail.com or call the theater at 252-249-0477.
