The 3rd Stream Big Band is the brainchild of Jim Basile, Jim Wile, and Greg "Suds" Sudmeier - Combining the coolest and most highly diverse genre's of music with some of the finest musicians, this is the premiere New Big Band in Atlanta, GA!
Writer-bassist, Jim Basile, and writer-drummer, "Suds," do much of the music arranging for the band, and they also curate other wonderful charts by some of the finest writers in the music industry. Jim Wile also provides excellent logistical and coordinating skills and plays Lead Trombone in the band too!
In the summer of 2019, Suds and the 2 Jims spearheaded the 3rd Stream Big Band! Taking their cue from the Big Band "3rd Stream" Jazz-Rock movement in the Late 1960’s through the 1980's represented by big horn bands like Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power, Cold Blood and many others, the new 3rd Stream Big Band joins Soul, R&B, Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Fusion, Rock, and amazing Vocals!
